It's all about construction

Hangers and supports

Hangers and supports are devices fastened to building structures to address support problems. For example, they may allow or control movements of piping systems. They may be used in seismic bracing technology. Conduit, spring, constant, pipe, clevis, and fire protection hangers are examples of hangers. Strut-type, duct, truss, fixed anchor, floating anchor, rigid, and mechanical equipment supports are examples of supports. A pipe support supports gas pipes, electrical conduit, PVC, and copper tubing.

Support spacing depends on duct diameter, temperature of parameters of the system, and location of concentrated-stress loads. It is critical to keep deflections and sagging to a minimum or to prevent stress on systems.

Here are considerations for hanger selection:

-they must have adequate load-bearing surface free of rough edges
-they shall not cause damage to the duct during use
-they must be of corrosive-resistant material
-they will not restrict linear movement of the system due to expansion

Overtightening of hangers and supports must be avoided to prevent deformation of supported materials and the restriction of their movements.
